The Helmers Quartet (Diedrik, Cynthia, Yoshiko and Tjamke) also plays a number of separate tones and bits from the Schubert String Quartet, which my sound designer and I then tinkered with, adding some jingling mother of pearl shells and bells as well as some common crane calls.
There are also various fragments of unspecified Arabic music, once broadcast by Radio Klara, but now impossible to identify. A snippet of Das Land des Lächelns (The Land of Smiles) by Franz Lehár, and a French chanson called ‘Pierrot Mon Ami’ (My Friend Pierrot) by Eric Gemsa and Dominique Vernhes.
